The Story Behind
These Storied Walls

Wallpaper has always been one of my favorite ways to express my creative side. In my very first home with my first child, I wanted his world to be happy and bright. I chose a bold Marimekko geometric print wallcovering to make his bedroom whimsical and welcoming; a world of possibility from the moment he opened his eyes. I have lived in nine homes since then and in each, the wallpaper has set the vibe, bringing color, texture and beauty into my every day.

Along the way, I have had three children, lived in different states and different style houses. After a divorce, newly single and in my own home, I looked again to Marimekko to make a bold statement; this time, to remind myself of the possibilities that were before me. I chose a wallpaper print of fuchsia and orange for my powder room-simply because I could! It was a small but visual way for me to assert my independence, and it made me smile every time I caught a glimpse. I paired that look with a warm grass cloth in my adjacent dining room to add some sophistication to my space, and remind me daily that my table would once again be full of friends and family making beautiful memories. That began my love affair with grass cloth.

Years later, I moved into an already beautiful condo on the gulf coast of Florida, but something was missing. White walls with beautiful blue accents worthy of a magazine. It was sophisticated but silent; saying nothing about me. I needed to make it my own. The walls were my canvas: Grass cloth in my bedroom for an organic, calming atmosphere, some bold prints in the upstairs bathrooms (because I could get away with it) and a sophisticated ice blue with silver branches motif in my powder room to retain the elegant ambiance that first drew me to this space. Now, it was talking! I was home.
